My flip phone was releasing a modest beep every 5 minutes or so. It sounded so sad - and why not - my phone is dying. In its final moments it is begging for "juice". If you do not heed the warning the beep will become weaker and weaker, and eventually all systems will shut down.

It does not really die, you know! It is more like a near death experience. I wonder if there was a bright light. Anyways, the phone will be recharged and live again with all its memories intact. It could in fact very well outlive me, who lives under the constant threat of cancer! One day I too, will feel all my systems shut down. When that happens I wonder if Icould use my trusty flip phone, like a Star Trek communicator, open it up with the flip of the wrist and say: "OK God, one to beam up......"

You could probably get away with that Ted, since God likes you so much, but I think He will come for you Himself and be your Personal Escort all the way.
I love your wonderful sense of humor through each trial you are faced with.
Bless you my friend.

Funny, and sad at the same time.
I don't want to think about this right now. : (
You're a great writer, Dad!
Well, he's locked on to your signal and he'll beam you out at just the right time.
and if you wish, you can even choose to have your signal scattered. Or is that ashes....
