On March 13, 1931 Kees was born. He was the first son of my parents, my older brother! He was totally dedicated to the Lord and lived an examplary life. Until 1949, when he died of cancer. It was during the time when he did his final exams for graduating from Hi-school. He was 18, I was 17. I must admit I was mad at God for taking him through this terrible cancer. But Kees just smiled during the final months. I was mad at God for his suffering, and I guess I was mad also that God did not answer my prayer for his healing!!

Until 1998, 49 years later, when I happened to meet an old school mate and soccer buddy from that time. I asked him if he remembered Kees. "Yes I do", he said, " What I remember most is Kees' JOYFUL FAITH". I was stunned! After 49 years Kees' testimony was still alive!! Yes, God took him in 1949, but Kees' life still speaks loud and clear. There is a message in that for us who are still here picking our way through this life. Right?

I love hearing stories from you. What a wonderful family you've grown up in . . . and are growing.
God is so good.
