MOTHER

In memory of mom!

On June 20 we remember (Ted's) mother who was born on that day in 1906. She would have been one hundred years old. However she passed away November 29, 1995. She was widowed since 1962, when dad died.

Mom and dad had 10 children of which 9 still survive today. The oldest, Kees, (Cornelis) died in 1949 after a bout with cancer. Mom and dad gave us a heritage of solid Faith and Trust in God. Mother literally taught herself English by comparing the Dutch translation with the English Bible, as you can see in above picture!!

Dad, I can see a little of you in your mom. She sure was a blessed woman to have so many children. Sometimes I wish that same standard of a huge family continued to this day.
I bet the house was never quiet but always exciting.

I see you in Oma too Dad. I loved Oma and was so very glad that I got to get to know her and stay with her in 1991. I can still see her huge smile when Ron told her about the flowers he bought for me that she thought were for her. What a funny memory. We couldn't tell her the truth after that. ha ha The joy on her face was priceless.

Jen, large families do still exist. In our church, I can think of at least 4 families with 9 or 10 children. One things for sure, I know I'm not built for birthing 7 more children. Could you imagine??
